Untuk diketahui, berdasarkan aturan dari ILO, ada regulasi yang mengatur prosedur pelarungan jenazah di laut. Disebutkan bahwa kapten kapal dapat memutuskan untuk melarungkan jenazah karena beberapa kondisi, antaralain jika jenazah meninggal karena penyakit menular atau kapal tidak memiliki fasilitas penyimpanan jenazah yang nantinya dapat berdampak pada kesehatan kru kapal lainnya.
“Pihak Tiongkok juga akan memastikan agar perusahaan atau agen kapal memiliki tanggung jawab dan mematuhi hukum berlaku serta kontrak yang telah disepakati,” ujar Menteri Luar Negeri Retno Marsudi, Kamis (7/5).
Retno juga meminta Tiongkok melakukan penyelidikan lebih lanjut terhadap kapal-kapal yang terlibat kasus ini. Hal itu termasuk bagaimana sebenarnya situasi kerja di atas kapal dan bagaimana perlakukan terhadap para ABK yang bekerja di kapal.
“Kami Kmeminta otoriras RRT lakukan penyelidikan. Kami terus berusaha melakukan penyelidikan apakah pelarungan sudah dilakukan sesuai standar ILO,” jelasnya.
Retno pun menegaskan bahwa jika memang isu perbudakan yang menimpa para ABK WNI benar adanya, maka Tiongkok tidak bisa lepas tangan begitu saja.
“Jika terbukti terjadi panggaran, kami minta otoritas Tiongkok lakukan penindakan hukum yang adil. Lalu meminta hak-hak ketenagakerjaan dipenuhi,” tegas Retno.
